We are a school that is active in research and there are a number of interesting research projects underway at present. These include a multi-centre study into the link between place of birth and birth outcomes and an international study looking at the outcomes of birth in small primary maternity centres compared with larger main centre maternity units.
In 2006 we were delighted to achieve the highest score in the national Performance Based Research Fund (PBRF) of any School of Midwifery in New Zealand. We hope to continue this success in the next PBRF round in 2012. Follow this link for that story
Dr Sally Baddock has teamed with Professor Barry Taylor at the University of Otago, Dr David Tipene-Leach of Hastings and Angeline Tangiora, for the Health Research Council of New Zealand-funded project.
In July 2012 the research findings were published in Pediatrics
The Huff Post also wrote an article about the research - read it here
Dr Baddock presented the research at the 22nd Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australasian Sleep Association and Australasian Sleep Technologists Association conference, in Christchurch, October 2010.
